Death is not the greatest loss in life.
The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.
The more the years of the river of life flow under the bridge of time a “thought” like this week’s makes more and more sense, doesn’t it? When one is young he often succumbs to the deadly thought “Oh, I have plenty of time, I think I will RELAX!!” And yes there is an element of truth in that thought but if a person surrenders to it too often the sublime lie of “lots” of time robs and erodes at the “dreams” of life.
However a more insidious lie that just as easily slips in and infects the dream is the often well intentioned “fib” of others that throws water on the inferno within. It is the propaganda that for some reason your dream is unachievable and unreachable or for some reason that you, the dreamer, are unworthy of attaining its rewards.
I liken this thought to the one attributed to Coach Vince Lombardi that says, “Man’s finest hour is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle victorious.” Now I ask you, what is a better cause than the dream that has been birthed in you? It is yours and it is essential for yourself, your family and the greater good of the world as well.
We must say no to the fabrications of others…no to the crafty lies of the wicked one and most importantly no to the perceived “failures” of the past. And I do mean perceived failures because we only fail if and when we stop getting up, dusting off and forging ahead. Remember this, “Every moment you live in the past is a moment you waste in the present.”
The Psalmist gives us a good admonition about living life in the now and how to view the past when he writes…”The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His Hand.”
Yes, you will fall; however, staying down is impossible in light of the Psalmist’s exhortation, isn’t it? Stay the course, grab a vision for without one life will be a bore and by all means DO NOT LET THE DREAM DIE WHILST YOU LIVE….
HAVE A GREAT WEEK.
