“Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be
happy to live with all of your life.
Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny,
inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.”
Ms. Meir lived this thought to the fullest. Born in Kiev, the Ukraine in 1898; she immigrated to the United States settling in Wisconsin in 1906. Immigrating once again in 1921 this time to Palestine. Golda began her activist lifestyle by working in various Jewish organization. Little by little she worked her way into the fabric of the Middle East so much so that by 1948 she was one of the founders in Israel’s proclamation of Independence.
How important is it for us to “fan the flames” of possibilities in our lives as well….regardless how small they may appear to be. Often we tend to say, “Oh, I can’t make a difference; I’m too young or too old.” Or we say we do not have the necessary education, training or experience.
Ever eating at a Mc Donald’s, of course you have or at least you have seen the Golden Arches. Where would the world be if Ray Kroc would have said already in his late 50’s, “I like the idea the Mc Donald brothers have for “assembly line” hamburgers and fries but I’m just a Malty Milk machine salesman and I’m 57 years old?”
No he fanned the flames of the possibilities of Mc Donald hamburger stands all around the USA and the rest is history, isn’t it? Now the world might be slimmer without the Golden arches; however the franchise idea Ray perfected has spanned hundreds of fast food restaurants in its wake. Just a little idea laced with possibilities and fanned into an inferno of action has changed the fast food industry for good.
Now let me share an additional thought that is attributed to Mr. Kroc. He said, “Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more you sweat, the luckier you get.” The two go hand in hand….fanning the flame with one hand while working like the dickens with the other.
The Apostle Paul encouraged the Church at Philippi with these words …”I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Need I remind you he wrote those encouraging words while being imprisoned by the Roman Government? Possibilities are not limited to current circumstances…you can fan flames from “dungeon cells” to penthouse suites and all points in between.
Let’s grab out fans this week and look for some tiny insignificant sparks of possibilities and make them into raging fires of “I CAN’S”… Have a great week…
