“When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way
Implicitly and unquestionable.” Walt Disney
One thing you can say about Walt Disney for sure was that when “He believed he believed it all the way”. Proof of that is that the Disney Empire is carrying on to this day even though he passed away 20 years ago. There is nothing that can take the place of “believing in a cause, a creation or especially the Creator.”
Allow me to share a few lines to tell you of another such story. Eighty years ago 16 individuals had such a dream that blossomed into a cause that exploded into the creation of a large and growing group of churches. You see these hard working, family oriented and God fearing people formed a new Church in Shafter California. They had recently been displaced from their homes, farms, businesses and churches because of the drought that became known as the “dust bowl”.
Coming together to “do” church as they had been accustomed in their rural homes of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas their dream exploded and within a few years there were 14 such churches in the San Joaquin Valley, CA. Today there are over 2,200 co-operating churches throughout the state of California that can trace their roots to this dream. Pardon my nostalgia for a moment; however, you see I am privileged to Pastor that first church in Shafter, CA today.
Why do I share that with you? Well first I cannot seem to think of anything else as we had a Celebration day yesterday commemorating our 80th anniversary and the Lord met with us…thus my heart and soul are full to over flowing with its Spirit filled ramifications.
However secondly, there is a great moral to this story and that is that as Mr. Disney said if you believe in something and do so wholeheartedly then the world will have a hard time keeping up with the results. It is not only Disney but countless hundreds of other visionaries such as but not limited to Microsoft, Apple, and Starbucks etc. Walt Disney had a song that begun with “If you wish upon a star…makes no difference who you are…(you finish it you are already singing it).
Acts chapter 2 records another such event…it happened a little over 2,000 years ago yesterday (Pentecost Sunday) when a handful (about 120) were empowered by the Holy Spirit and the Age of the Christian Church began…It continues today and as with Mr. Disney’s song …”it makes no difference who you are…” Young or old, black white or brown, rich or poor, educated or uneducated you can come as you are and receive the gift that will be good for eternity, Oops I just cannot contain myself…
May I encourage you to dream big…believe with no limitations…and receive freely the greatest gift…until next week may you all have a GREAT WEEK BELIEVIN’…
