“The only thing that stands between a person and what they
want in life is the will to try and the faith to believe it possible.” Rich DeVos
Well the NewYear has sprung upon us and it is already pushing one week old!! Do you remember that game “Boggle”? You remember shaking up those alphabet die and then uncovering them….each player with pencil and paper in hand would write as many words as possible with the letters showing in a short span of two minutes.
I would like to do an off shoot of that concept with the word “GROWTH” as we peer cautiously down the corridors of 2014. We could set a plethora of goals, write resolutions until our fingers bled or even plan until our brains went numb in anticipation of what is to come. Instead of all that why don’t we just take one word of which most everyone is desirous of doing and examine some “boggle” words found with in its letters….All people, churches, businesses etc. strongly desire to grow in numbers, fiscal responsibility, profit and personally as each day goes by. As with all growing it is necessary to remember the adage “it is hard by the yard but a cinch by the inch.”
Now let’s consider the “boggle” components of the word GROWTH….
- GO…no one can ever get anywhere without deciding to GO….sitting in one place will get you No where fast….first and foremost to make 2014 the year you want it to be takes deciding to GO…remember even Gad cannot steer a parked car.
- GROW…obviously ‘grow’ is part of the word growth you say…yes that’s the beauty of “boggle” don’t overlook the obvious….a sub word under growth is the word ‘how’…to grow we must decide how we are to grow…some times we grow by losing like extra weight around the girth or losing friends that are negative and condescending or even losing a job that is not your passion…remember this that if we are not growing we begin to ‘rot’….ah hah another word from our “boggle” concept….
- ROW…nestled in the middle of the word GROWTH is our next word…how important in life and in reaching a goal is the idea or rowing…rowing speaks of teamwork, consistency and perseverance…the discipline of rowing is especially important to the businesses in which you work, the Church of which you are an integral part and for sure the family of which you are member….one person dropping an oar can seriously effect the flow of success…remember the hare and the tortoise…one does not have to be the fastest, most intelligent etc. just consistent…
- The final word for our consideration is that of WORTH…have you ever thought of your ‘worth’? or have you given into the “thought Nazi’s” of negativism, ‘I’m not worth anything’. ‘I’m only a’…and on and on…think of this in the beginning God said “Let us make man in Our image”…you my friend were created in the image of Almighty Gad with the ability to think, love, choose and create…pretty headed stuff for us “humanoids”, eh?
Start the New Year with thoughts of going, growing, rowing and being worthy and the rest of the year will fall nicely in place….oh, to be sure there will be peaks and valleys, ups and downs and a few ins and outs; however this four little “boggle” words from the word GROWTH will assuredly keep your feet a dancin’ and your mind a movin’ in the right direction….Until next week…Keep believin’
